Even though there aren’t any PPVs from the big 2 in the US next week, it looks as if it could be a great week for Wrestling nonetheless. Let’s find out what the World of Wrestling offers next week!
Recommendation of the Week: Ren Narita vs Tomohiro Ishii
Currently the tournament is underway to crown the first ever NJPW World Television Champion. The championship was promoted as a title for the young roster members and it can only be contested in matches with a 15 minute time limit.
In my opinion, the perfect winner for this tournament is clearly Ren Narita. It feels like the title is pretty much made for him. But why am I recommending this match specifically?
Well, Ren Narita is a student of the legendary Katsuyori Shibata, who had one of the greatest matches ever, which ended in under 15 minutes, against Tomohiro Ishii in the G1 Climax 2013. Now, almost 10 years later Shibata’s student and Ishii face off in a match under a 15 minute time limit. This match is destined to be amazing.
WWE
In the WWE, we continue the buildup to Crown Jewel on November 5th. The only match announced for Raw up until now is a Title Bout between Bayley and Bianca Belair, which will probably extend the feud between their respective teams further, perhaps until Crown Jewel or even longer.
Meanwhile, there are both Tag Team Titles on the Line in NXT as Edris Enofe & Malik Blade challenge Pretty Deadly for the Men's Tag Team Titles with Nikkita Lyons & Zoey Stark challenging Katana Chance & Kayden Carter for the Women’s Tag Team Titles.
AEW
After an amazing Dynamite last Tuesday, AEW is back in its usual schedule with some lovely matches announced for it. After returning last week Riho takes on Jamie Hayter. Actually quite a risky decision considering how well liked Hayter is. Other Matches include Swerve in our Glory battling FTR for the Number 1 Contender Spot for the Tag Titles held by the Acclaimed and Bryan Danielson facing Sammy Guevara.
NJPW
We mentioned the TV Title Tournament earlier, but New Japan has some more stuff lined up for us. First off, on the 26th, 27th and the 30th of October, there will be First Round and Quarter Final Matches on the Burning Spirit Shows.
However, there is also the ‘Rumble on 44th Street’ event on the 28th with a huge Triple Threat Tag Team Match involving the Motor City Machine Guns, Aussie Open and the LA Dojo. Shingo Takagi and El Phantasmo have had some differences lately with the latter losing a Who’s Your Daddy match. They will battle on the card as well. To top it off, Eddie Kingston will team with Kazuchika Okada to face Jay White and Juice Robinson.
Stardom
After an eventful Week, Stardom “only” has 1 show in store for us, that being Day 2 of the Tag League. Matches include Utami Hayashishita and Saya Kamitani vs Saki Kashima and Fukigen Death as well as Hazuki & Koguma vs Miyu Amasaki & AZM. As always with Round Robin Tournaments, every result needs to be expected.
Rest of Japan
The biggest event next week comes from Pro Wrestling NOAH as ‘The Return’ looks bound to give us some great matches. Kazuyuki Fujita challenges the 26 year old Kaito Kiyomiya for the GHC Heavyweight Title. Keiji Mutoh is continuing his retirement journey teaming up with Naomichi Marufuji and Yoshiki Inamura to take on Hiroshi Tanahashi, Togi Makabe and Tomoaki Homma
FREEDOMS is a Japanese deathmatch promotion, with the most dangerous wrestlers you can find today. They have 2 events scheduled with matches including Jun Kasai, Daisuke Masaoka, Masashi Takeda, Toru Sugiura, Drew Parker, Violento Jack and so many more. One downside is that the events are only available a few days later, however if you’re a deathmatch fan, FREEDOMS is a must see promotion for you!
Indies
To continue with deathmatches, CZW still exist and are holding the 19th Tournament of Death. Announced matches include Necro Butcher against Big Fn Joe and Mickie Knuckles taking on Orin Veidt.
Minoru Suzuki and Tom Lawlor face off for DEFY’s ‘Freedom Come’ Show. Lower on the card you have the 17 year old Nick Wayne teaming up with Ultimo Dragon, yes you read that right, battling La Estrella and Gringo Loco.
On House of Glory’s ‘Exodus’ Show The Briscoes will face Aussie Open in a dream match and Low Ki taking on Shingo Takagi. This show is certainly one to look out for.
Another Show to look out for is “Roseland 4 - Wake The Dead” by Prestige Wrestling. Alex Shelley will defend his Prestige Wrestling Title against Dragon Gate’s YAMATO, which could be a phenomenal bout! Lower on the card you have Jungle Kyona fighting Deonna Purrazzo and the American Wolves wrestling against Violent by Design.
We’ve got a pretty good week for Wrestling ahead of us. As mentioned, I think that the Narita vs Ishii Match is one to keep a close eye on, but let me know what you’re excited for next week! You can find all the start times (excluding preshow) and additional Info to all the Shows mentioned above.
Enjoy it!
