While this week was the calm before the storm, we can be certain that this stacked week definitely is the storm. Let's look at what we got in this insane week of Wrestling!
Recommendation of the Week: Syuri (c) vs Utami Hayashishita
On June 12th 2021, Syuri and Utami Hayashishita battled for over 40 minutes to a Double KO in a classic rated 5.5 Stars by Dave Meltzer. A few months later in the 5 Star Grand Prix, a round robin tournament, they battled again to a Time Limit Draw after 20 minutes had expired.
Syuri, the best ranked womens wrestler by PWI in 2022, won the 5 Star Grand Prix 2021 and subsequently beat Utami Hayashishita on December 29th to win the World of Stardom Championship.
Since then Syuri has been on a roll, defeating everyone who dares to step up and challenge her. However in the 5 Star Grand Prix of this year, which Giulia won, Utami beat Syuri. Now at Gold Rush it's time for the next chapter in this incredible Story between those 2. Giulia will face the winner of this match at the end of the year. The question is... who will it be?
WWE
The Smackdown World Cup continues with the now official Bloodline member Sami Zayn trying to advance against Butch and Ricochet fighting with Mustafa Ali.
Both NXT Singles Titles are on the line as Bron Breakker defends the Men's NXT Title against Von Wagner and the NXT Womens Champion Mandy Rose tries to extend her year long reign even further by beating Alba Fyre.
Seth Rollins and Finn Balor will battle in a no title match on Raw as well.
AEW
After some weeks of questionable AEW programming, this week is a very big moment for the promotion with the Full Gear PPV coming up.
The biggest match is of course the challenge from MJF against the AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. Recently the discussions weren't about if MJF wins, but more so how he will win, debating whether or not he will cheat to gain the championship.
In a rematch from the last PPV and from Dynamite Grand Slam, The Acclaimed defend their titles against the dysfunctional Swerve in our Glory.
After not competing for nearly 5 years, Saraya steps into the Ring again versus - the women most synonymous with AEW - Britt Baker
NJPW/Stardom
The longawaited Crossover Show between NJPW and Stardom finally takes place this Sunday.
The Main Event is the bout between KAIRI and Mayu Iwatani for the newly created IWGP Women's Championship. There has been a lot of talk about Sasha Banks recently about the fact that she has planned something big this month. I believe that if it is something involving Wrestling, it has to be an appearance on this show!
There are of course numerous mixed tag matches involving the 2 rosters, along with Shota Umino challenging Will Ospreay for the IWGP US Title and the Great Muta taking part in a Six Man Tag.
Stardom
We already mentioned Stardom quite a few times up until now, but there's still more. KAIRI has the chance to take another title, that being the Wonder of Stardom Championship, held by Saya Kamitani.
Other matches include 2 more matches in the Goddess of Stardom Tag League and Momoka Hanozoko challenging AZM for her High Speed Championship.
Impact
Josh Alexander has been phenomenal as Impact World Champion and on Friday, he will face his next challenger Frankie Kazarian. The Tournament to crown a new X-Division Champion will come to an end at Overdrive when Black Taurus faces Trey Miguel.
DDT
The final regular tournament day of the D-Oh Grand Prix awaits us, with a few people still having the opportunity to win their blocks! Notable matches include the clash between Kazusada Higuchi vs Yukio Naya and Yuki Ueno battling with Daisuke Sasaki.
Indies
The King of the Indies Tournament will take place on Saturday including wrestlers like Dragon Lee, Dralistico and Jacon Fatu. Katsuhiko Nakajima will face JR Kratos, while Naomichi Marufuji is in a fatal four way match against Vinnie Massaro, Misterioso and Xtreme Tiger.
On JCW's "Series of Survivals" Janai Kai will battle Maki Itoh and Jonathan Gresham will take on Cole Radrick. Jonathan Gresham is in action a day later on GCW's"Aura" against on of the Wrestlers of this Year, Mike Bailey. Also on the card Maki Itoh faces Masha Slamovich.
Overview
As always you can see all the start times above. In my opinion this could be one of the best weeks of the year. Tell me what you're excited for the most!
Enjoy it!
