First Ever STARDOM Match - Mayu Iwatani vs Takumi Iroha

NJPW are considered the best Japanese men's wrestling promotion and I absolutely love their wrestling. The number one women's wrestling company in Japan is STARDOM therefore it's certainly worth checking out unless you hold some incredibly flawed sexist viewpoint!

However, to my shame, today was the first time I have watched a STARDOM match from bell to bell. On recommendation from the excellent @DanSpursQuins (Check out his STARDOM 5 Star Grand Prix preview here) I started with Mayu Iwatani vs Takumi Iroha from the February 8th Korakuen Hall event

I was not disappointed, this is a fantastic match and now I can't wait to watch more STARDOM.

  • The champion was overwhelmed by Takumi Iroha's ferocious offence in this encounter.

  • More than double the offence came from Iroha.

  • Iroha also achieved an impressive reversal rate of 47%

  • Mayu Iwatani barely achieved any offence in the first 5 minutes.

  • Iroha essentially dominated the first half of this match.

  • 3 of the 4 full five minutes in this match were won by Iroha, only one going to Iwatani.

  • Iwatani's 5 was the biggest offensive total of the match by 5 min chunks.
