Weekly Update, Progress Check and 2021 Totals

Updated: Oct 25

Quick Note:

I have added an additional column to the weekly update, the 2021 Total Metrics, as a way to see how the All-Time Top 10 Men and Women have progressed this calendar year relative to their overall totals. Look for a pair of year-in-review articles over the next few weeks looking at the Final Metrics for 2019 and 2020.

Scorpio Sky displaced his former World Tag Team Championpartner Frankie Kazarian to enter the Top 10. Sky pinned Chris Jericho in the Main Event of Rampage becoming the first man to pin the Demo God twice in AEW. *One of Baker’s four title defenses was not previously counted in Q3 and the relative amount in the Change column was changed a result. Current Totals are now correct.

Conti, with wins on both Dark and Elevation, and Ford, who was victorious on both Elevation and Dynamite, increased their Combined Metrics the most. I suspect to see each featured in the upcoming TBS Championship Tournament.

Other Notables:

Billed as Las Super Ranas, FTR won the AAA World Tag Team Championship by claiming victory over Lucha Brothers and both Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood are knocking on the door of the All-time Top 10 as a result. Considering they debuted in mid-2020 this is all the more impressive. However, the Pinnacle members did not earn additional Quality Points as they had previously defeated Penta and Fénix in 2-on-2 competition. They will also only earn Championship Points through Title Defenses in AEW matches and not for the days as champions as this only occurs for officially sanctioned company titles. Anna Jay is heading to a Non-Title confrontation with Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker, DMD. While she is likely not to find victory here, Jay seems poised to be playing a more supporting role but needs to be careful not to get stuck in neutral. Meanwhile, Soho won on both Elevation and Rampage and this should help her avoid becoming an afterthought in the weeks and months ahead.
