The week ahead of the Rumble provides us with quite some bangers all over the board because of the NJPW vs NOAH and the Great Muta shows on the weekend.
Recommendation of the Week: Kenoh vs Tetsuya Naito
Last years rather disappointing lineup for the New Japan/NOAH crossover show thankfully was only the prelude for more interesting matches at further events like this one. Los Ingobernables de Japon(NJPW) and Kongoh(NOAH) meet in a best of 5 series to determine the better faction with the main event being the phenomenal clash between former World champions of their respective Promotions Tetsuya Naito and Kenoh.
Predicting this actually feels quite hard, because like with every best of 5 series, it has to go until the final match, but while Naito is certainly lower down the card currently and could take a loss, I doubt NJPW would let NOAH be presented better with them potentially outdrawing Wrestle Kingdom Night 1 with their own Tokyo Dome Show in February..
NOAH(and New Japan)
There are a bunch of other matchups on the NOAH vs NJPW card of course with the other marquee matchup being Shingo Takagi vs Katsuhiko Nakajima, which was nearly my main recommendation for this week. In a repeat of last years main event, Kaito Kiyomiya and Kazuchika Okada stand across each other again in a Tag Match.
Keiji Mutoh continues on his road to retirement with his final match as the Great Muta persona this Sunday teaming up with Sting and Darby Allin to face Hakushi, also known as Jinsei Shinzaki, japanese Wrestling legend AKIRA and all-time great Naomichi Marufuji.
One other match on the card I would like to mention is the womens match which is Maya Yukihi & Natsu Sumire vs. Jungle Kyona & Saori Anou. Provided they get enough time, that's my pick to steal the show. Just hope they get more than Tam and Kairi lol.
After being unceremoniously shoved into the preshow of the Impact ppv last Friday, KUSHIDA gets a shot at the TNT Title of Darby Allin, which should be an absolute barnburner.
A further sign of the coke running wild, is the insane next challenge for Bryan Danielson on his road to MJF. He'll face a part of the All In main event in Bandido. Orange Cassidy puts his All Atlantic title on the line against Jay Lethal but he'll hopefully keep it to give it to Takeshita.
Top Flight get another big tag team match after coming up short against the BCC. They will take on the Young Bucks, to presumably set up a trios title match between the Elite and the team of AR Fox and Top Flight.
The match that sticks out to me on that card is Kylie Rae facing Queen Aminata. Both women, that I've not seen a huge amount of, but I know can go all the way. Check this one out!
El Hijo del Vikingo continues his tour in the US with a match against Flamita and Rey Horus.
In another Indie Womens Banger, the revamped Athena takes on the TJPW Ace Miyu Yamashita - another one to watch out for! A nice thing to see is MAO and Shunma Katsumata getting more shine in the states for DDT. And you can't go wrong with a bit of Kidd Bandit.
At the next New Blood show, we will see more of the new Stardom and Club Venus members Xia Brookside and Mariah May against Starlight Kid and KARMA. Nanae Takahashi surprisingly has a match at the show against Waka Tsukiyama. Oh, How much I would give for Waka to get the upset...
El Hijo del Vikingo has another match this week, this one agaisnt Gringo Loco. Other matches include Ricky Morton vs Tony Deppen and Jordan Oliver vs Colby Corino and Blake Christian vs. Andrew Everett.
The only major thing announced for the top promotion in the world is Drew McIntyre and Sheamus facing the Viking Raiders on their quest for gold.
Former British Heavyweight Champion Ricky Knight Jr. faces the currently most well known german independent Wrestler Axel Tischer. Additionally Sunshine Machine defend their tag titles against Lykos Gym.
The big things this week are definitely the two japanese shows and Dynamite, although you should definitely check some other stuff out as well.
